Huge changes in F1, drivers came and left, some unfortunate, some after winning one world champion title only. Luckily - in my point of view - a certain Fin will remain part of the circus next year, going back to Sauber, where it all started. Hopefully not only one but two years. Unforgettable radio transmissions like "Leave me alone, I know what I am doing", or his ride trying to find his way in Brazil turning into the wrong direction (which implies that no navigation system is available, why actually?).
But, another legend gone, will miss Fernando Alonso. Honestly, in his earlier years, I did not really fancy him, I found his attitude arrogant and spoiled. Along the years, as he matured as a human being and as a driver, I started to like him more and more. His wit, his humor, his driving, he evolved. His "Spanglish", not beaten until today. I was with him during his first Indy appearance, in front of the TV of course, and ... as predicted, the b**** motor just blow (as all of Honda motors did, if I am not mistaken). He would have won the Indy 500, I am absolutely sure. Looking forward to 2019 and hope, that Chevrolet does a better job. Fernando won LeMans 2018 with a team that could not be beaten by all the other teams (to be fair: Audi was not a competitor anymore nor Porsche), logical consequence but the right time, right team! Right decisions at the right time, probably also regarding F1 - where to go?
But, no Alonso anymore for us that stay behind. Fernando Alonso will be missed, not only by me, I am sure. Let's hope that the new season will bring on some cool races, races to remember and not to forget.
Farewell, Fernando Alonso - see you at Indy 2019!
